K to 12 Plus Project Conducts Apprenticeship Bill Consultation

GIZ and PCCI HRDF with the support of the K to 12 Plus Project conducted its consultation meeting on the update of the Apprenticeship Bill today.

Stakeholders from the government, education, and business sectors gave their input on how the currently proposed Apprenticeship Bill could be lobbied and eventually be implemented better.

PCCI President Ms. Alegria S. Limjoco noted how human resources development policies such as the Apprenticeship Bill greatly improves the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by developing a more qualified labor market.

The PCCI President also noted how a trifocal consultation composed of the business, government, and education such as this one is a great contributor on the development of the cooperation between three parties.

Present in the said consultation are government representatives from Department of Education (DepEd) and Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) came for today's consultation. Representatives from labor groups and trade associations such as Integrated IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and Lakas Mangagawa Labor Center (LMLC) also actively participated in the meeting.

The group agreed to conduct further consultations in the future to study how the business sector could be engaged in the apprenticeship mode in order to increase the participation turnout of the sector.
